WifiPass collects minimal data necessary to provide our service:
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (if you choose to share them). Anonymous/guest accounts collect no personal information.
- User-generated content: WiFi passwords, reviews, ratings, and hotspot submissions you voluntarily share with the community.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
- Analytics data: Anonymous page view and feature usage data via Firebase Analytics to improve the app experience.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect or store your precise GPS location on our servers. Location data is processed on-device only to find nearby hotspots.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers.
- We do not use tracking cookies or cross-site tracking technologies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain the WifiPass service
- Display community-shared WiFi passwords and reviews
- Send push notifications you have opted into (badge earned, challenge completed)
- Improve app performance and fix bugs via crash reports
- Understand aggregate usage patterns via anonymous analytics
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase) infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, secure authentication tokens, and access controls.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, we permanently remove all your personal data, including your profile, reviews, favorites, and submitted passwords within 30 days.
6. Third-Party Services
WifiPass uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, and cloud hosting.
- Apple / Google Sign-In: Optional authentication providers.
- Stripe: Payment processing for optional premium subscriptions (Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data).
7. Children's Privacy
WifiPass is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
