FAQ

Honest answers.

Is WifiPass really free?
Yes — WifiPass is free to download, and the whole map with all 30M+ hotspots and passwords is free to use. No account, no sign-up. Just download it and start finding WiFi in seconds.
Do I need an account?
No. WifiPass signs you in anonymously the first time you open it. We never ask for an email, name, or anything else.
How do you protect my privacy?
Your location is processed on-device only. We never store your coordinates server-side. Network requests use Firebase App Check so the API serves only the WifiPass app, not scrapers.
Where do the passwords come from?
WifiPass is crowdsourced. Over the years, millions of travelers have added the hotspots they've used, building a database of 30M+ networks and 50M+ working passwords. The community votes on what still works — stale entries naturally fade out of the top of the list.
Is sharing a WiFi password legal?
WifiPass is intended for hotspots that the venue makes publicly available — cafes, hotels, restaurants, airports. We rely on contributors to share only credentials the venue has authorized for guest use.
Which languages does WifiPass support?
Right now WifiPass is in English. Localization to German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian is on the roadmap.
Can I use WifiPass without a signal?
Yes — download any city's offline map and you carry its entire WiFi map and passwords with you. Find free WiFi on the subway, on a plane, or abroad with zero signal and zero mobile data.
What happens when I tap a shared WifiPass link?
It opens straight to that hotspot inside the app, password ready — so sharing a great spot with a friend takes a single tap.
Is WifiPass on Android?
Yes. WifiPass is available on iPhone, iPad, and Android, with the same map, offline downloads, and community passwords across all of them.
